Outdoor Classroom Day 2017

Outdoor Classroom Day 2017

Primary 5 took their learning out of the classroom and into the outdoors on Outdoor Classroom Day, Thursday 18th May 2017.  In Mathematics and Numeracy, we have been learning how to interpret the 8-point compass, and have been using these skills to help read maps.

We went one step further, and created our own maps of our school and its grounds.  Through this activity, we learned about using symbols to represent items.  As you can see, our maps were of a very high standard!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Technologies

I can extend and enhance my design skills to solve problems and can construct models.

Primary 5 have certainly proved that they have achieved this outcome when they had to solve the problem of designing a new sweet machine for Mr Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.   They worked through the design process in co-operative groups and I'm sure you'll agree the results are fantastic!

When listening to the children presenting their ideas and machines, they certainly made my mouth water with their delicious sounding new sweets
